Attract new volunteers for free!
Would you appreciate some extra support in recruiting and retaining volunteers for your organisation?
Well, we've come up with two easy ways for you communicate the message this Volunteers' Week that volunteers make the difference to your organisation:
1. Inspire a new audience of micro-volunteers
Many people in Sutton want to volunteer, but lack the time. If you can persuade people to do something small for your organisation, it is far more likely that they'll commit to supporting your organisation on a more regular basis. So, we want to make it easy for them to volunteer by sharing your ideas for small actions that can make a big difference to your organisation.
We'll set up shop outside the old BHS building between 11-3 on Tuesday 6th June, engaging with local shoppers and giving them free goody bags that include suggestions for how they can volunteer for local organisations in just 30 minutes (or less). We'll promote as many local organisations as tell us they want to be involved.
All you need to do is fill out this short online form by Wednesday, 24th May. We'll format your ideas onto our special VW cards, pop one in each of our goodie bags and give them out to as many local people as possible.
If you're not sure you can come up with a volunteering action that will take less than 30 minutes, the other option is for you to design a taster session lasting about an hour that potential volunteers could attend to get a flavour of what volunteering with your organisation is like.
Take a look at this PDF of 20 ideas we've put together; we reckon you'll find at least one you could adapt to suit your own organisation. Feel free to ring us and ask to speak to Pat or Matt if your'e stuck!
2. Thank volunteers who already make the difference
Thousands of people already volunteer in Sutton, and make a huge difference to our community. If volunteers feel valued, they're far more likely to continue volunteering for your organisation. So, we want to make it easy for you to tell them how valuable they are to your organisation.
We’ll be sharing tons of stuff on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram throughout the week of 1-7 June, using the hashtag #ThankSutton. We'll highlight the tremendous impact of as many volunteers who make the difference to local organisations as we're asked to feature!
All you need to do is fill out this short online form by Friday, 26th May and we’ll do the rest.
