National lockdown: Stay at Home (Updated 5 January 2021)

As a result of rapidly rising cases of coronavirus. The government has announced a national lockdown across England. This means you should not leave home except when necessary. 

Covid-19 Community Support Services

Volunteer Centre Sutton is currently operating a number of Community Support Services for residents in Sutton. We are also here to offer information, advice, practical and emotional support.

Neighbourhood Volunteers: Volunteer Centre Sutton, supported by volunteers are offering help to people struggling to get out, self-isolating or vulnerable and need someone to shop for food or help them get online with shopping slots. The service is free, however you will need to pay for your food through the Neighbourhood Volunteers shopping programme.

Our usual services

To protect the health and safety of all of our volunteers, service users and staff, Volunteer Centre Sutton is only open to booked appointments for people who cannot be supported remotely. The majority of our staff and volunteers are working remotely to support the delivery of services.  We aim to resume the full opening of our face to face services as soon as safely possible.

1:1 Volunteer Interviews: Our face-to-face volunteer interview service is currently suspended but we can offer online or telephone support.  You can also sign up to receive our newsletter with up to date roles within it. You can sign up to receive our newsletter here. 

New volunteering opportunities: We are recruiting for a number of Covid-related volunteering roles, which are permitted under National Lockdown guidelines. For all the latest information on these roles, please check here

Form filling support service: This service is available via the phone or online. There are some circumstances when volunteers can support with face to face interviews, however these need to be discussed and booked with us. If you have any concerns about benefits and need advice, please contact Citizens Advice Sutton. MAPS Mentoring, Advocacy & Peer Support: MAPS provides mentoring and advocacy support to children and young people in Sutton – find out more. Sutton Befrienders: Sutton Befrienders provides befriending support to adults of all ages, with the aim of reducing isolation and loneliness – find out more. Unfortunately now that we are in National Lockdown we are not currently able to run our walking groups so these are suspended until further notice. All other activities and outings are also currently suspended. Our Befrienders are continuing to support through telephone sessions and socially distanced outdoor visits but we hope to resume face to face support and small group activities as soon as it is safe to do so. All staff are working from home, they will be answering emails during usual office hours.
