The Afghan Project had a busy August, bringing families and children together for a month filled with laughter, friendship, food and memorable experiences.
Picnic by the stream
The month began with a special ladies and children-only picnic at The Grove in Carshalton, by the stream.
Eight adults and 28 children came along to enjoy a summer day outdoors. The children made the most of the surroundings, including jumping in the stream, playing crazy golf and, of course, enjoying plenty of ice cream.
It was a relaxed opportunity for the women and children to spend time together, have fun and enjoy the summer weather.
Discovering the Tower of London
Two families, including three adults and five children, also enjoyed a trip to the Tower of London.
The visit was particularly exciting for the children, who are currently learning about the Royal Family. They enjoyed discovering more about British history and were especially fascinated by the Crown Jewels.
The trip provided an opportunity to bring what the children are learning to life while enjoying a day out together.
Family gathering at the Church of the Good Shepherd
August finished with a family get-together at the Church of the Good Shepherd, bringing seven adults and 17 children together.
The children spent the day playing, having fun and enjoying delicious food, while families had the chance to spend time together and catch up.
Across all three activities, there was plenty of laughter, good food and time spent building friendships.
Looking ahead to September
The Afghan Project will be welcoming new families in September, with more opportunities for families to meet, connect and enjoy activities together.
The project is also planning a trip to London Zoo, giving families another chance to share a new experience and make memories together.
From summer picnics to family outings, the Afghan Project continues to bring families together and build a welcoming community.
