Yvonne McPhee JP

Volunteer Centre Sutton Trustee since 2013. Member of the Funding and Income Generation sub-group, the Governance and Policy sub-group and the Human Resources sub-group.
Retired Deputy Chief Officer of VCS. Social work background; worked extensively in the voluntary and statutory sectors. Retired magistrate.
Currently volunteers at VCS in matters including governance, human resources and safeguarding. Also a volunteer with two other organisations working with children and older people.
Neil Davies
Volunteer Centre Sutton Trustee since 2021.
Qualified ACA. 23 years of experience as a partner in a major international accounting practice. Areas of expertise include corporate governance, financial control and reporting, business development, commercial evaluation and data interpretation.
Also has considerable experience of coaching, mentoring, staff evaluation and assessment.
Neil was introduced to Volunteer Centre Sutton through volunteering as a Nonsuch Covid-19 Vaccine Marshal.
Vaskor Basak
Volunteer Centre Sutton Trustee since 2022 and member of the Funding and Income Generation sub-group.
Vaskor qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant in 2004 and has worked across the construction, security and government sectors, as well as in a top 10 UK accountancy firm. He now manages finance, IT and infrastructure projects in a manufacturing business.
He previously served as a Trustee of Age UK Sutton (2018–2021) and has been actively involved in the local voluntary sector. Having lived in the borough since 1992, he is strongly connected to the Sutton community.
Outside work, Vaskor enjoys singing with the LSE choir, playing piano, exploring mathematics and physics problems, engaging in technology and coding, investing, travelling and hill walking.
He looks forward to using his experience and finance expertise to support Volunteer Centre Sutton’s continued success and positive impact in the community.
Jan Wright
Volunteer Centre Sutton Trustee since 2024
Retired Civil Servant,with experience of management, policy, regulation and governance. Formerly a Trustee and Board Secretary of another charity supporting children, young people and families, and previously a School Governor and Multi-Academy Trustee. Currently, a Multi-Academy Trust Member and a Trustee of a local Choral Society. A long standing London Borough of Sutton resident and a regular volunteer with various local organisations and projects within VCS and a with a small specialist Museum.
Ethan Smith
Volunteer Centre Sutton Trustee since 2024
A Masters in Social Work graduate who has experience of Social Work practice including knowledge of Autism, ADHD, the Care system, education and foster care. With excellent experience in team work, communication and representation on panels, Ethan has volunteered, been a mentor and coach, with a passion to grow and further develop himself and support residents, in particular young people and those disadvantaged in society.
Sharmin Choudhury
Sharmin has spent over 15 years working in government and consultancy, using her background in law and policy on equality legislation, digital innovation, programme delivery, and stakeholder engagement across the UK and internationally. She has led high profile initiatives on gender pay gap reporting, workplace inclusion and improving accessibility in public transport. Alongside her professional work, as a passionate advocate for social justice, she brings her strategic expertise and long-standing commitment to volunteering, including roles with Citizens Advice, Toynbee Hall, and youth mentoring schemes including MAPS. She’s excited to bring her experience, passion for equality, and commitment to social change to her role as a trustee.
