About the Organisation
EcoLocal is an independent charity that acts as a hub for community-led projects, events and activities. Our aim is to "achieve strong, vibrant communities in a healthy environment".
What you will be doing
Our accessible cycling project helps people with all abilities and those with disabilities to be able to experience cycling, to gain exercise, meet other people and learn skills. We have an amazing array of cycles; adult trikes, go carts, wheelchair bikes, 3 wheel tandems, hand cycles and more!
Our reception desk volunteers:
- Register new participants
- Sign in existing participants
- Take payments by cash and card machine
- Issue receipts
- Complete session paperwork and ensure everything is ready to go back to the office at the end of the session
Your contribution is vital to the smooth running of the session, enabling the eager cyclists to get onto the track and start enjoying their activity!
What's in it for you?
Volunteering offers a rewarding experience, hands-on involvement and the chance to be part of a friendly, inclusive team.
What skills will you need?
A friendly and welcoming attitude, plus an interest in working with people from all ages and backgrounds, particularly those with disabilities and learning difficulties. Reception desk volunteers need to be able to read and write and have basic arithmetic skills.
What's the time commitment and where?
Time Commitment:
Our Gear-Up accessible cycling sessions run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 10am - 12pm so you can pick and choose when you want to volunteer.
Location:
David Weir Leisure Centre, Middleton Road, Carshalton SM5 1SL
