Crop Production Volunteer - Sutton Community Farm

About the Organisation

Sutton Community Farm is a community-owned organic fruit and veg farm in Wallington, welcoming up to 70 volunteers every week to get involved in a range of activities. We build community and create opportunities for local people: volunteers are the heart and soul of our farm! 

What you will be doing

  • Work in our fields and polytunnels helping with various food growing activities 
  • Plant seeds, transplant seedlings, and maintain growing areas 
  • Harvest fresh food for our online farm shop customers 
  • Get involved in composting and sustainable farming practices 
  • Help with seasonal farm tasks as needed, always working as part of a welcoming team 
  • Open to children aged 8-17 with adult supervision

What skills will you need?

  • Basic physical fitness for outdoor work (tasks can be adapted to different abilities) 
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions 
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team 
  • No previous gardening experience required - just enthusiasm to learn! 
  • Reliability and good communication skills 

What's the time commitment and where? 

  • Regular sessions on Wednesdays 9am - 12pm or 1pm - 4pm 
  • Tuesday harvesting 9am - 1pm 
  • Saturday sessions twice monthly (April-October) or monthly (November-March) 
  • Flexible commitment - attend as often as suits your schedule 
  • All volunteer sessions include a break with tea and toast provided by the farm 
  • Located at Sutton Community Farm SM6 0SW
