Volunteers are required to assist with a range of practical conservation / grounds maintenance activities at nature sites around the Borough, including wildlife gardening work at Sutton Ecology Centre.

What you will be doing

Volunteers are required to assist with practical habitat maintenance activities at nature sites around the Borough including Sutton Ecology Centre. The type of work carried out varies depending on the season and is based around general gardening and DIY activities. This could include hedge laying, living willow structures, dead hedging leaf raking, litter picking, maintaining paths and managing woodland, pond and meadow habitats.
 
We are happy to discuss opportunities with new volunteers.
 
We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds, including individuals who may have additional needs. However as we have limited capacity those requiring support may need to make arrangements to be accompanied.
 
Age Range: We welcome applications from under 18s, including from 14+.

Skills Description
Interested in the environment Able to take part in varying levels of physical activity. Volunteers are supervised at all times and specific horticultural/environmental knowledge is not needed. Volunteers should be prepared to work outdoors in all seasons and dress appropriately.

What's the time commitment and where? 

Tuesday & Thursday Task Days 10am to about 4pm - various sites subject to programme. Wednesday Task Day 10am to 1pm - Sutton Ecology Centre. Sunday Task Day (Once a month - 3rd Sunday) 10am to 1pm - sites subject to programme.

Location: Sutton Ecology Centre, Festival Walk, Carshalton. Various nature sites around the Borough - attendance subject to seasonal programme - please contact to discuss.
