About the Organisation

Sutton Nature Conservation Volunteers (SNCV) is the main nature conservation organisation, solely operating in the London Borough of Sutton. We have been working on Sutton’s many wildlife sites since 1987.

What you will be doing

We carry out practical maintenance and habitat management work throughout the year. The type of work carried out varies depending on the season and is based around general gardening and DIY activities. This could include hedge laying, living willow structures, dead hedging leaf raking, litter picking, maintaining paths and managing woodland, pond and meadow habitats. During the spring and summer, we also carry out ecological surveys and monitoring, recording plants and animals to help inform our management.

The sites that we help look after vary in character and size, from small pockets of ‘green space’ to large Local Nature Reserves. Some of these sites have limited public access.Volunteer and you’ll discover that Task Days provide excellent opportunities to see some hidden wildlife gems! In Sutton we are lucky to have a variety of habitats, including chalk grassland, woodland  and wetlands & ponds, which all help suppport an amazing variety of wildlife.

What's in it for you?
