About the Organisation

Learn English at Home

What you will be doing

Would you like to learn a new skill? Would you like to make a real difference to someone's life? Would you like the opportunity to help someone with their English?

Volunteer English tutors needed for students living in Richmond, Hounslow and Kingston boroughs. Lessons take place online or in the student's home or community venue.

Learn English at Home is a small local charity working with Richmond, Hounslow and Kingston residents who do not have English as their first language, to help improve their English language skills, reduce isolation and support them to integrate into their local community. Full training provided.

Following a successful interview volunteers will receive a bespoke online training course designed for our remote support volunteer role. The course will be 6 weekly x 2.5 hour sessions and will cover the skills needed to support a client to improve their English as well as LEAH policies and procedures. A mixture of daytime and evening training courses are offered.

There will be ongoing support, guidance and supervision as well as opportunities to go on further training and development courses.

What's in it for you?

Through providing one-to-one lessons to a client on a weekly basis, you'll find your own horizons broaden. Many LEAH tutors have gone on to qualify as ESOL or EFL teachers, inspired by the experiences they have had as a LEAH tutor. Others have grown in confidence, made friends and taken great satisfaction from the very real difference they've made to someone's life.
