What you will be doing
Volunteer Centre Sutton are looking for Community Health Ambassadors. These roles sit as part of the Community Health Programme that will support local residents to improve their health and wellbeing.
A Community Health Ambassador is somebody who cares about their community and those who live there. They are volunteers who want to be active in their community to improve health and well-being.
They will ideally have lived experience of a health condition such as:
• Mental health,
• COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease),
• Diabetes,
• Maternity related issues
• Previous diagnosis of cancer
• High blood pressure
• Other health issues
These experiences will help them to relate to others experiencing similar health issues. Community Health Ambassadors will be interested in learning new skills and will be happy to support local events and activities which aim to promote health and wellbeing. Trained Volunteer Community Health Ambassadors will meet and connect with residents to understand their health concerns and relay important health information to raise awareness. This work is aligned to the Core 20 South West London initiative and local place-based health aims. Agreed information will be shared with partners within local Health, Primary Care networks and the voluntary sector.
The Community Health Ambassadors may also help to coordinate/support local activities and events to promote the service with the aim to improve health inequalities.

Skills Description
This role will suit anyone who loves singing, meeting new people and is good at supporting, encouraging and motivating others.
What's the time commitment and where?
A few hours/month - flexibles times and days.
We are particularly interested in Volunteers from the Benhill, St Helier, Roundshaw and Shanklin Village areas of Sutton.
