Local publicity volunteer - EcoLocal

Blitz the Borough: Join EcoLocal as a Local Publicity Volunteer! Spread the word, distribute posters and leaflets, engage your community, and help more people get involved in our events and activities.

About the Organisation

EcoLocal is an independent charity that acts as a hub for community-led projects, events and activities. Our aim is to "achieve strong, vibrant communities in a healthy environment".

What you will be doing

EcoLocal runs a year-round programme of events and activities, including:

  • EcoFair
  • Carshalton Frost Fair
  • Wallington Farmers’ Market
  • EcoLocal Gardening School
  • "Gear Up" Inclusive Cycling Sessions
  • Community Food Growing Projects
  • Wellbeing Activities

We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help spread the word about our events within the local community. This will involve:

  • Distributing posters and leaflets at key venues such as libraries, community noticeboards, and other local hotspots.
  • Regularly engaging with your local area to promote EcoLocal’s activities and events.

What's in it for you?

  • Become part of a fantastic team of volunteers supporting EcoLocal’s work.
  • Make a meaningful contribution by helping increase awareness and participation in EcoLocal’s events and activities.
  • Play a key role in promoting sustainability, community engagement and wellbeing in your local area.

What skills will you need?

Skills Needed:

  • Friendly and approachable, with a genuine interest in promoting EcoLocal’s work
  • Ability to take ownership of your local area (“patch”) and maintain relationships with venues displaying publicity materials
  • Enjoy engaging with the community and connecting with local people
  • Reliable, organized, and able to manage tasks independently
  • Interest in marketing, events management, and local community initiatives
  • Passion for sustainability, community wellbeing, and EcoLocal’s mission

What's the time commitment and where?

Time Commitment:

This is a really flexible role as you can choose when you go out and about. We are looking for people who can dedicate just a few hours a month on a regular basis, or more should you wish.

Location:

You can decide the "patch" you'd like to focus on, however big or small. Publicity materials are usually collected from our office at the Lodge in Carshalton (Ecolocal, The Lodge, Honeywood Walk, Carshalton, SM5 3NX).

Disability and Access Support: Volunteers should be able to access their local libraries with ease. Our Carshalton offices are fully accessible for you to collect leaflets and posters. For any specific access needs, please contact us.
