Bring your people skills and make a difference to the lives of local people in your community. DCF’s Unity Junction are seeking volunteers to support with community events and drop-ins happening in the space. This is a great opportunity to support the work of a local dynamic and forward-thinking charity.

What you will be doing

Key activities:
• Welcoming people into the space and explaining what we do.
• Making hot drinks/refreshments.
• Supporting services delivering events/sessions by setting up the room (if you are able to), chatting to service-users and making people feel at ease.
• Potential to open and lock up the venue in the future, if all parties are confident in this.
 
Age Range: We can accept applications for under 18s, including from 16+.

Skills Description
General skills/experience • Friendly and welcoming • Motivated and well organized. • To be friendly and professional. • Interact well with others. • Be punctual and reliable. • Good listening skills. • Works well as part of a team.

What's the time commitment and where? 

• At least 3/4 hours per week, options to support with activities you are particularly interested in. Timings are either 11-3 or 3-6 or a combination of both if you are available. The morning session would be supporting adults in the space and the afternoon would be with young people. • Days would currently be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday, or a combination of these. • Induction training process. • Other times as agreed with the volunteer.

 

Location: Unity Junction, St Nicholas Centre, Sutton, SM1 1AY

Bus stop outside the shopping centre on St Nicholas Way: Stop W 10 minute walk from Sutton Station When inside the St Nicholas Centre, go to Level 1 (bottom floor) and head towards the gym - lower end of the high street). Unity Junction is on the corner by the escalators.

 

Disability and Access Support: The venue is on the ground floor of the shopping centre which has ramp access and lifts. We are a kind and caring organisation that aims to support individuals to work to the best of their ability.
