Trustee - Refugee and Migrant Network Sutton (RMNS)

We are seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Board of Trustees to help guide our mission and increase the range of skills and experience of the Board of Trustees. We are looking to better reflect the experiences of our local community, our clients and students and welcome applicants with lived experience of migration to the UK. We also would like to hear from people who can bring skills and expertise in the following areas – funding bid writing, mental health, IT and media.

About the Organisation

Refugee and Migrant Network Sutton (RMNS) offers friendship, advice, and English language classes to refugees, asylum seekers and newly settled migrants. 

What you will be doing

As a Trustee, you will:
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Support fundraising and community engagement efforts.
  • Contribute your skills and expertise to enhance our impact.

What skills will you need?

We welcome applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences from our local community, clients and students. Ideally candidates will have:

  • Lived experience of migration to the UK.
  • A commitment to supporting refugees and migrants.
  • Experience in fundraising, media, IT, mental health, education, community development.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A willingness to dedicate time and energy to this volunteer role.

18+ only. Candiates must be prepared to undertake a DBS check.

What's the time commitment and where? 

Quarterly meetings each requiring perhaps 5 hours for attendance and preparation. Additional time according to level of subsequent involvement.

Location: Sutton, London. Work online and at locations with access.
