Volunteer at Epsom & Ewell Race for Life 2026 on Sunday 21st June 2026 - Cancer Research UK

Support participants at the Epsom & Ewell Race for Life 2026, held on Sunday 21st June 2026, one of Cancer Research UK's biggest series of fundraising events. Our volunteers are the heart and soul of Race for Life events. However you can help, for however long, you’ll be doing something amazing. Just bring your energy, smiles and passion to the party. We’re all helping to fund life-saving cancer research. Together.

About the Organisation

Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading independent cancer charity. Our mission is to beat cancer by funding life-saving research, raising awareness, and supporting people affected—entirely funded by the public.

What you will be doing

Ready for a fun-packed day full of warmth and laughter? We’ve got plenty of different things you could do – you'll get more details once you've signed up. The Event Manager will contact you around four weeks before the event to give you all the information you need, and to answer your questions. There are tasks and roles to suit everyone including:

Event Day Volunteer - Get stuck in wherever you’re needed – from setting up and packing down the event, putting up marquees and flags, getting water to the finish line and clearing up after the event has finished.

Course Marshal - Cheer on our participants as they take part and lift some spirits along the way.

Enquiries and Admin Volunteer - With the excitement of Race day there’s bound to be questions! You can help by supporting our participants and spectators with their queries. This could include anything from simple directions to processing on-the-day entries, and replacing numbers, and of course being a friendly and welcoming face to our participants.

Cycle Volunteer - The leader of the pack! You'll guide, support and motivate participants by cycling parts of the route. Please note that you'll need your own bike suitable to the terrain of the course.

What's in it for you?

  • It’s an amazing experience – there's no atmosphere quite like our Race for Life events.
  • The warm feeling of knowing that you are making a difference to the life-saving work Cancer Research UK is doing right now.
  • The experience of working with one of the UK’s leading charities on its biggest national event series.
  • Meeting new and like-minded people in your local area and creating a positive impact in your community.
  • Learning new skills and gaining new experiences to support you in your personal and career development.

"There are so many highlights at every event, from seeing the site to take place to supporting thousands of people in pink cross the finish line. It’s a wonderful feeling knowing we’ve done our bit to help.” a Race for Life volunteer

What skills will you need?

For volunteering at Epsom & Ewell Race for Life 2026, you don’t need any formal qualifications or prior experience—just enthusiasm and a willingness to cheer participants on and help the team in anyway you can!

All volunteers will receive a briefing, support, and guidance before and during the event—so you won’t be on your own. Roles are accessible, and Cancer Research UK is happy to make reasonable adjustments.

Age Range: If you are under 16, you’ll need to seek permission from your legal parent or guardian, who will need to register to volunteer. Please include your age in the form message below. Your legal parent or guardian will need to complete the Cancer Research UK application form for themselves, providing a name and date of birth of any accompanying under 16s in the 'Comments' box on the form.

Under 16s will need to be accompanied by this responsible adult on the day.

Disability and Access Support:  Everyone is welcome to join. Any wheelchair users might struggle with the uneven terrain, and we would recommend to have someone with you anyone who is able to assist. There is no access restrictions, just uneven services around the park. For the visually impaired, we have lots of roles to choose from, we would just recommend bringing someone with you for around the park.
