Join our Community Volunteer Squad! You could help local residents with one-off tasks like DIY, gardening, or decluttering — at times that suit you. Choose what you do and when you volunteer!

About the Organisation

Volunteer Centre Sutton connects local people with local volunteering opportunities, and our Volunteering Advisor service helps over 150 residents a year. 

What you will be doing

By joining our Community Volunteer Squad - you will hear about one-off Volunteerring tasks to help local residents in needs and can then volunteer for tasks which work for you, your skills and timings.  The tasks can vary from 

  • Gardening - simple weeding and tidying to clearing weeds
  • DIY - from changing a lightbulb to putting together furniture and basic repairs
  • Driving  - to/from locations or collecting/delivering prescriptions
  • Decluttering - helping a local resident to declutter
  • Moving furniture

Tasks are published regularly via our Whatsapp Group to all Community Volunteer Squad members.  There is no regular/weekly commitment - as a member of the Community Volunteer Squad you pick and choose which tasks you could volunteer with and at a time that suits you.

What skills will you need?

  • Basic physical fitness and skills appropriate for the task
  • Enthusiastic, reliable "can do" attitude
  • Friendly and empathy as many of the people we support are in challenging situations
  • UK driving licence if you would like to volunteer for driving tasks
  • Have an interest in the local community and a passion for helping others
  • Comfortable with Whatsapp as tasks are published and organised via Whatsapp and Email

What's the time commitment and where? 

This is entirely up to you, you can pick and choose tasks as and when you would like.  The tasks happen all over the London Borough of Sutton.
