About the Organisation
Sutton Little League Football offers organised football for boys and girls of all abilities between the ages of 6 and 16. Emphasis is placed on enjoyment, team spirit and sportsmanship.
What you will be doing
- You will be involved with the assisting of a U16 football team on Saturdays at Royston Park.
- If you are involved with the first match of the day you will help with the setting up of the football pitch to be match ready for kick-off. This involves putting nets up on goals, staking out the respect rope and area for spectators/parents etc, putting out of corner flags and substitutes benches.
- Pre match: the manager/assistant manager will be involved in warming up their team with warm-up exercises, football drills etc.
- Match time: potentially need to run the line for offsides/throw-ins, help with team talks, make substitutions, motivate and support the team.
- Post match: if you are the last match being played on the day, you will need to help with the taking down and putting away of the nets, respect rope, corner flags and subs benches.
We are also looking for managers/assistant managers and coaches in the U10s/U9s division if you would prefer to volunteer with younger children.
What's in it for you?
- You will get an FA DBS and certificates of all FA training courses, (including the FA Playmaker course) once completed, which will help you progress if they look to expand their coaching development in football and with the FA.
- You will develop personally in your confidence and people skills, having to interact with children, parents and other coaches/managers on a regular basis.
- Training in First Aid, Safeguarding and Refereeing.
- Personally rewarding to give back to the Sutton Local community and to see children in our care develop their footballing skills, confidence and enjoy being part of a team.
What skills will you need?
- A knowledge of football and it's rules would be beneficial however SLL assists our new managers and coaches with the DBS process and also encourages them to take more FA courses of benefit to their own personal and coaching development such as First Aid, Safeguarding and Coaching courses.
- DBS check required.
