Get involved for next season 26/27! Football Team Manager/ Assistant Manager - Sutton Little League Football

Sutton Little League Football is now recruiting volunteers for the 2026/27 season! Share your love of football and help young players (ages 6–16) learn, improve and enjoy the game. No previous coaching experience is needed—full support is provided, and all volunteers complete the FA Playmaker course as part of their induction.

About the Organisation

Sutton Little League Football provides organised football for boys and girls of all abilities aged 6 to 16. Based at Royston Park in Carshalton, the league runs friendly and inclusive matches every Saturday morning.

What you will be doing

As a Team Manager or Assistant Manager, you’ll be right in the middle of the action each week—supporting players, organising games, and helping create a fun and positive environment. It’s ideal if you enjoy football and like seeing young players grow in confidence and ability.

You don’t need loads of experience—there’s plenty of support, and roles can be shared so you won’t be doing it alone.

A typical Saturday might include:

  • Set-up (early matches): Helping prepare pitches—putting up nets, setting out respect barriers, corner flags and benches
  • Pre-match: Leading warm-ups and simple drills
  • During the match: Supporting players, making substitutions, helping with team talks, and occasionally running the line
  • Pack-down (last matches): Taking down equipment and helping tidy the pitch area

What's in it for you?

  • FA DBS check and recognised FA training (including the Playmaker course).
  • Opportunities to progress into coaching and further FA qualifications.
  • Training in First Aid, Safeguarding and Refereeing.
  • A great way to build confidence and people skills.
  • The chance to give back to your local community and make a real difference.
  • The reward of seeing young players develop skills, confidence and teamwork.

What skills will you need?

  • An interest in football (knowledge of the rules is helpful but not essential).
  • A positive, supportive attitude.
  • Willingness to learn and get involved.

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and are committed to supporting those with disabilities or accessibility requirements.

What's the time commitment and where?

Time Commitment
2-3 hours on Saturday mornings during the 26/27 football season (September - December; late January - April).
