Events support - Sherwood Foundation Charity

Join our inclusive, accessible events for families with special educational needs and disabilities. We're seeking volunteers to assist with activities like Summer Fun Days, Sponsored Runs, and Easter Egg Hunts.

About the Organisation

Sherwood Foundation Charity (formally known as Friends of Sherwood Park School, FOSPS) is the fundraising team for Sherwood Foundation School, an all age foundation special school for children with SEND in the London Borough of Sutton. Our aim is to raise extra funds for our school and create special memories for our families. Where possible, we extend our reach into the wider SEND community, bringing families together & letting children experience joy without judgement.

What you will be doing

Since our formation in January 2023, we have been busy fundraising & raising our profile within the local community. In school events have included cake sales, pop-up valentines shop, Christmas fairs, Santa’s Grottos, Easter Egg hunt, discos & a family photo shoot. Externally we have held a summer fair & festive dash. We also host regular, inclusive & accessible, SEN sessions at Kidspace, Croydon & at Guildford Spectrum Splash Park for our students, staff & families, as well as the wider SEND community.

We’d love for you to get involved! Whether you’ve got a great idea, a little spare time or just want to meet other parents - come along to one of our friendly, informal meetings.

We are particularly looking for people who can lend a hand and support our various events throughout the year - setting up, manning stalls, clean down after events, stewarding, etc. Typical stalls are selling refreshments, games such as hook a duck, toy stalls etc.

What's in it for you?

Make a huge difference to the lives of students, staff & families at the Sherwood Foundation School, as well as the wider SEND community. Every penny we raise goes straight back into supporting our school & students. So far, we’ve:

  • Bought Christmas presents for every student, every year
  • Helped cover the costs of school trips and celebration events
  • Funded special equipment requested by teaching staff
  • We have just raised over £16,000 for a new school mini bus!

You will also meet people, assist families with disabilities, enhance social skills and have fun!

What skills will you need?

Accessibility and inclusion are at the forefront of everything we do, it is vital the candidate is compassionate, caring and understanding of people with disabilities.

Age range: we welcome volunteers from 16 years plus

All our events are designed with accessibility and inclusion in mind, as this is at the heart of what we do! We would love to hear from you and can discuss any requirements you may have!
