Orangery Cafe Volunteer - St. Raphael's Hospice

To support our staff in our Orangery Cafe to prepare food and refreshments to staff, volunteers, patients, those important to them and other visitors.

About the Organisation

We are an independent charity providing palliative and end of life care and support to adults living in Merton and Sutton, and their families, friends and carers.

What you will be doing

  • setting up front of house food prior to service
  • supporting both in the preparation area and server counter
  • preparing food and cooking food
  • operating the dishwasher; to clear dirty crockery and store clean crockery
  • undertaking cleaning duties in all areas of the café
  • handling cash and using till
  • assisting with stock control

What skills will you need?

  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Food Hygiene Level 2 course available via hospice
  • Good customer service
  • Ability to cope under pressure at busier times 

What's the time commitment and where?

Time Commitment
The cafe is open Monday to Friday 0930am to 3pm. Volunteer shifts are usually 3-4 hours. You can do a regular shift or volunteer on an ad hoc basis to cover absence. We especially need volunteers on Mondays and Fridays at present.
