Gardening Support Volunteer - The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust

Do you have an interest in gardening and a few mornings to spare each week? As a Gardening Volunteer, you will join our existing small team of gardeners help to improve and maintain our garden areas to provide a welcoming space for patients, staff/volunteers, and visitors to enjoy.

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is the world's first hospital dedicated to cancer diagnosis, treatment, research and education.

What you will be doing

Key tasks may include the following:
 
• Maintaining the garden areas; including watering, pruning, general weeding, leaf clearing and seasonal planting.
• Adhering to trust health and safety policies and procedures.
• Identifying areas that could become gardening projects and sharing ideas with the volunteer gardens coordinator and lead gardening volunteer.

What skills will you need?

Interest in gardening, a basic knowledge of plants, and a good level of fitness. All safety training and equipment (hand tools) will be provided.

You will need to complete our short e-learning modules, an induction and orientation session, a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, and any other mandatory training required by The Royal Marsden.

Inclusive volunteering: This is taken on individual basis and can be discussed at interview. 

 

What's the time commitment and where?

Time Commitment
2-3 hours per session, 8.30am - 12pm Wednesday & Friday mornings.
