Surplus Food Collection Driver - Sutton Community Project

We're looking for volunteer drivers for surplus food collection from the local supermarkets. This role involves picking up food from allocated supermarket at instructed time and distributing.

About the Organisation

We reduce food waste by collecting surplus food and redistributing it to people in need in Sutton and provide a place to meet and build a healthy community.

What you will be doing

Collecting surplus food from the following supermarkets & charities:
  • Lidl Rosehill (Fri before 12pm)
  • Aldi North Cheam (Sat & Sun before 1pm)
  • M&S Banstead (Thurs & Sat 12pm)
  • Critical Support / City Harvest, Mitcham (Tues at 12pm)
Redistribution to other charities & storing at Thomas Wall Centre

What skills will you need?

  • Driving License & your own vehicle
  • Communication skills with supermarket's staff
  • Fitness for lifting and moving large food crates
  • Basic Food & Hygiene knowledge

What's the time commitment and where? 

Time Commitment: One a week for two hours, minimum three months and ideally longer

Choice of days and locations available now: Lidl Rosehill (Fri before 12pm), Aldi North Cheam (Sat & Sun before 1pm), M&S Banstead (Thurs & Sat 12pm), Critical Support / City Harvest, Mitcham (Tues at 12pm)
