Join Our Team as a Short-Term Home Visiting Volunteer! Become a Home Visiting Volunteer with Home-Start Sutton and offer vital support to local families, helping them to become the best parents they can be and ensuring their children thrive. Your Role: In just 2-3 hours a week for six months, you'll provide invaluable friendship and encouragement to families facing temporary challenges. Whether it's a mum recovering from surgery or parents with newborn twins, your compassionate presence as a home visitor once a week can uplift their lives. We offer comprehensive training to prepare you, covering key topics like child development, communication, and safeguarding.

What you will be doing

  • Spend 2-3 hours each week visiting your family at their home.
  • Provide emotional and practical support during your visits.
  • Engage in playtime with the children.
  • Offer guidance to parents on best practices.
  • Advise parents on accessing assistance for issues like housing and healthy lifestyles.
  • Accompany parents to the park and appointments where they require support.
  • Deliver valuable friendship and encouragement to the parents.

What skills will you need?

Home visits take place within the London Borough of Sutton, with our welcoming office based at Alexandra Gardens Children's Resource Centre, Stanely Road, Carshalton SM5 4LJ.
