About the Organisation

We provide 1:1 and group services in schools and in the community with all of our provisions co-developed with our members. We challenge homophobia, biphobia and transphobia and we provide LGBTQ+ awareness training to schools and organisations to promote inclusivity.

What you will be doing

The role involves:

  • Building relationships with young people, which enable them to explore and make sense of their experiences.
  • Assisting with the identification of the needs of young people.
  • Working with young people to design, develop and deliver activities, projects and events underpinned by the youth service curriculum.
  • To also be fully aware of the principles of safeguarding as they apply to young people and vulnerable adults in relation to your work role.

What skills will you need?

Essential

  • Experience of group work with young people, including a basic understanding of safeguarding.
  • A grounded and thought through understanding of LGBTQ+ issues.
  • The skills to handle sensitive issues including those relating to sexuality & gender and personal relationships, in an appropriate, professional and confidential manner.

Desirable:

  • Direct Youth Work experience.
  • A Youth work qualification.
  • An up-to-date DBS.

A DBS check is required for this role.

What's the time commitment and where? 

Time Commitment:

Free2B delivers the Gap LGBTQ+ youth club, running every Friday from 6-8pm in the Clapham
Junction area.

We appreciate that giving up every Friday evening may not be appealing! So we are seeking
volunteers who can commit to one rota’d Friday per month.

Location:

The Clapham Junction area (our address is not advertised to safeguard our members).
