About the Organisation
Advocacy for All exists to support people who need help having their voice heard in decisions that affect their lives - especially where they might struggle to communicate or be confident in advocating for themselves. Our self advocacy groups support people with learning disabilities and autism to make friends, gain confidence and speak up for themselves.
What you will be doing
The group supporter will take responsibility for the session. She would just love to have another pair of hands!
What you’ll need to do:
- Be friendly!
- Look out for group members as they arrive, maybe meet them at the door, help them find the group and get settled.
- Help with craft activities. The group supporter will have prepared the activity, but you can move around the group and help 1-1 as needed.
- Support group members to get drinks and snacks.
- Try to encourage each person to do as much as they can for themselves.
- Sit with people and chat to them, take time with them.
What's in it for you?
You’ll gain hands-on experience, receive safeguarding and essential training, build confidence and skills, and be part of a supportive team making a real difference in the community.
What skills will you need?
You don’t need formal qualifications — just good communication, a friendly and patient approach, teamwork skills, and a willingness to learn, complete training (including safeguarding), and support attendees confidently.
A DBS check will be required.
What's the time commitment and where?
Time Commitment:
Once a month on a Thursday 4.30-5.30pm
Role Address:
Preparing for Adulthood hub at the Sutton Life Centre SM3 9PX
