Support Volunteer - Sutton Scouts

If you have time or skills to share, there are opportunities to get involved behind the scenes at Sutton Scouts. Volunteer your way - pick a role that fits around your commitments and bring your skills where they’re needed., whether that’s bookkeeping, administration, building maintenance gardening or event planning. As a Scout support volunteer, you can help flexibly without a regular weekly commitment, we appreciate any time you can spare.

About the Organisation

Sutton Scouts is a vibrant local community where over 1,500 young people aged 4-18 take part in weekly adventures, building confidence, skills for life and friendships. Powered by passionate volunteers, we create fun, varied experiences that help young people grow - and make a real difference.

What you will be doing

Depending on your skills and interests, you can:

  • Support behind-the-scenes tasks that keep Sutton Scouts running smoothly.
  • Use your skills where needed, such as bookkeeping, gardening, maintenance or admin, or simply be an extra pair of hands.
  • Help with occasional events, camps, and practical tasks.

What's in it for you?

You can be very flexible about the time you can give and what tasks you want to be involved with. You’ll also build leadership and teamwork skills while being part of a supportive team working together.

One of the best things about being part of Sutton Scouts is the chance to try new activities, visit new places, and have experiences you might not otherwise have such as:

  • Taking part in activities like climbing, shooting, kayaking, and camping at local Scout sites.
  • Joining events and competitions with other Sutton Scouts groups.
  • Exploring outdoor spaces such as for hikes and wide games.
  • Supporting community events, trips across the UK (and occasionally abroad), and learning practical outdoor skills.

As part of Sutton Scouts, you’ll make a real difference to young people in your community, have access to training and development opportunities, and have fun meeting new people along the way.

What skills will you need?

A willingness to share your time and talents where they are most useful.

Scouts actively aim to make volunteering as inclusive as possible. Support is available to help volunteers take part, including adjustments for disabilities or additional needs. Roles can be shaped around availability, skills and confidence levels.

Our minimum age requirement for all adult volunteer leaders is 18.

Adult volunteers in Scouts are required to complete an Enhanced DBS check as part of the organisation’s safeguarding process. This is arranged through the Scouts’ own DBS system and is supported by references and other suitability checks.

Application process: once you have expressed interest via the form below, your details will be sent to Sutton Scouts who will then contact you directly for next steps.
