Whether you enjoy gardening, meeting people, organising events or simply want to help protect local wildlife, we'd love to welcome you to the Friends of Sutton Ecology Centre. Every volunteer makes a difference, and together we help our local nature thrive.

About the Organisation

The Friends of Sutton Ecology Centre is a friendly community group that supports the Sutton Ecology Centre by helping to protect and enhance the site, raising funds for improvements, organising community events, and encouraging people of all ages to connect with nature.

What you will be doing

We are 100% volunteer led and our volunteers play a vital role in ensuring the Sutton Ecology Centre remains a welcoming place for wildlife, learning and the local community. As a Friends volunteer, you'll work alongside other members to support the Ecology Centre through practical conservation, fundraising, events and community engagement. Whether you can give a few hours occasionally or volunteer more regularly, every contribution makes a difference.

Depending on your interests and availability, you may choose to help with:

  • Conservation & Gardening: planting native flowers, shrubs and trees; pond and habitat maintenance; seasonal gardening and weeding; supporting biodiversity projects; general site improvement activities
  • Events & Community Activities: helping organise community events such as the Summer Garden Party; setting up and packing away stalls and equipment; welcoming visitors and answering questions; running craft or information stalls; supporting family nature activities
  • Communications: assisting with newsletters; taking photos; helping with social media
