Volunteer Mentors - Aaron Opoku Foundation (AOF)

The Aaron Opoku Foundation (AOF) Mentorship programme is seeking dedicated young professionals to join us as volunteer Mentors, to guide and advice young people, support them achieve their career aspirations and build confidence, through online sessions. Whether you have mentoring experience or simply a genuine interest in helping others, your time and support can have a lasting impact.

About the Organisation

We are a small registered charity of volunteers working collaboratively to provide mentoring for young people aged 16 - 24 years. Our vision is to inspire younger generations to believe in themselves, providing support and mentorship to help them pursue their dreams, make informed career choices, and strive for excellence.

What you will be doing

As an online volunteer mentor, your role involves:

  • Actively listening to your mentee, providing constructive feedback, and offering guidance.
  • Motivating your mentee to think critically and supporting them to make informed decisions about their career goals.
  • Sharing your career journey, relevant knowledge, skills, and experiences to help build confidence and develop new skills.
  • Supporting a young person with university or apprenticeship decisions, as well as assisting with job applications and interview preparation.
  • Attending regular one-to-one mentoring sessions online.
  • Communicating professionally and maintaining appropriate boundaries.

We seek volunteer mentors with a diverse range of expertise and experience to join our programme.

We provide full training and ongoing support throughout your mentoring journey.

  • Be able to motivate and encourage young people in a positive and supportive way, while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Be willing to help young people recognise their strengths and work towards their career aspirations.

Minimum age 18+

Flexible - able to fit around your free time mainly evenings or weekends
