Saturday Support Worker - PlayWise Learning CIC

On the first Saturday of every month between 10am-2pm PlayWise SEND families have free play in the hub and we need you to help us manage this busy session to ensure every family is supported. PlayWise is a non profit organisation that works with young disabled children 0-8 years and their families.

About the Organisation

PlayWise Learning CIC (Community Interest Company) has been established to offer parents and carers of young disabled children, and the professionals that support them, with a wide range of services. This will help reduce the impact of disability and SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) and support families on their journey. PlayWise offers new, innovative and bespoke interventions for families either at home, in our wonderful community hub in central Wallington or in the child’s own learning setting. PlayWise supports children aged 0-8 years.

What you will be doing

  • Opening the door and greeting families.
  • Offering refreshments.
  • Chatting to parents and engaging them in group conversations.
  • Playing with the children.
  • Tidying up at the end of the sessions.

What skills will you need?

  • A friendly, welcoming and approachable manner.
  • Good listening and communication skills with adults and children.
  • Patience and sensitivity when supporting families from different backgrounds.
  • Reliability and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • An interest in child development, family life, or community support (helpful but not essential).
  • Awareness of special education needs and disabilities is a bonus.

What's the time commitment and where? 

Time commitment:

It is usually the first Saturday of every month between 10am and 2pm so where possible, arrival at 9.45am and finish by 2.15pm
