Wellbeing Support Project

Wellbeing Support Project provides tailored support to Sutton’s older residents to promote independence and reduce loneliness and isolation via a regular home-visiting service, with priority given to those who are housebound or experiencing poor health and mobility.

LBS LogoFunded by the London Borough of Sutton, Wellbeing Support Project focuses on building trusted, friendship-based relationships between our service-users and volunteers to improve both emotional health and general wellbeing. Our trained volunteers offer a listening ear and relaxed conversation, helping people stay connected to their community.

What We Do

Wellbeing Buddies

Volunteers are carefully matched with an older person who has been referred to the service. Support usually takes place weekly, either through a home visit (about 1 hour in duration) or a phone call.  Our volunteers are trained to identify risks and gaps in support at an early stage.  These are reported to their Wellbeing Support Coordinator so that additional services can be explored and onward referrals made.

Please note:

· We complement existing services and are not a substitute for professional care.

· We do not provide shopping, transport or personal care.

Referral information:

  • Demand may be high, and there may be a waiting period before a volunteer is allocated.
  • Priority is given to those assessed as most in need, but each referral is considered individually.
  • All health issues, risks or additional support needs must be shared at the time of referral.
  • Consent from the individual is essential, and they should be involved in completing the referral form wherever possible.

Eligibility:

  • · Aged 50+
  • · Living in the London Borough of Sutton
  • · Willing and able to engage with a volunteer
  • · Experiencing loneliness
