From a Warm Welcome to Closing our Integrating Sutton Project
It's been a great few years supporting the Hong Konger community arriving and settling in the London Borough of Sutton since 2019.
However our funding for this project ends in March 2024 and so it's now time to say farewell!
Here's just a summary of what we achieved and how we supported the integration into Sutton. Watch our farewell video here.
- Almost 100 local residents became a friendly and welcoming Buddy to newly arrived Hong Kongers
- The Queen "came to tea" with our Platinum Jubilee Celebrations and Hong Kong Milk Tea
- Our Welcome Course ran 4 times bringing together 130 Hong Kongers to learn about British Culture, Small Talk and share their experiences
- Over 2,000 people joined us in Sutton Library to welcome the Year of the Dragon!
- We’ve also seen many Hong Kongers become volunteers - from working at St Mary’s Cafe to Sutton Community Farm
-
We estimate we have directly supported over 800 Hong Kongers and their families in feeling supported and integrating into our local community through
-
coffee mornings and information sessions
-
outdoor and sporting activities
-
getting into employment sessions
-
English online courses
- Welcome Courses
-
再見!!!
