MAPS Mentoring: staff from Sutton Council step up to volunteer as MAPS Mentors

A huge thank you to Sutton Council for hosting a live stream webinar this week encouraging staff to consider volunteering with MAPS Mentoring.

As one of the borough’s leading providers of support for children and young people, MAPS Mentoring have enjoyed a long and collaborative partnership with Sutton Council’s Children’s Services team.

We were delighted to be given the opportunity to connect with Sutton Council staff on Tuesday 3rd September 2024, in a live stream hosted by Chief Executive Helen Bailey and Jonathan Williams, Director of Children’s Services.

Over 110 staff attended and heard from Volunteer Centre Sutton CEO Anita Maullin and Hayley Brooker, MAPS Mentoring Deputy Manager. Anita and Hayley made their “pitch” to Sutton Council staff about the opportunity to volunteer as a MAPS Mentor – but the real showstoppers were the testimonials from Jonathan and his colleagues Chrissy and Debbie, whose accounts of their experiences in Mentoring with MAPS were positively glowing!

Several Sutton Council staff have already signed up to find out more about MAPS Mentoring, especially after hearing from members of staff who have already mentored with MAPS. As a fantastic example of employer supported mentoring, Sutton Council strongly supports their staff to volunteer. All Sutton Council employees are entitled to 2 volunteering days a year and Volunteer Centre Sutton shares regular one-off volunteering opportunities in the Sutton Council all staff internal newsletter.

A huge thank you to Sutton Council for their ongoing support!
