Last Saturday morning, a group of our matched mentoring pairs seized the day despite the rainy weather, embarking on an exhilarating adventure to TeamSport Go Karting in Mitcham. Thank you to Ian Williams for all their generous support to make this trip possible. Undeterred by the drizzle, children and their matched mentors found refuge in the venue, where adrenaline and enthusiasm ruled the track.
The young participants eagerly suited up under the watchful eyes of their mentors, absorbing the safety briefing before hitting the course. TeamSport Go Karting proved to be more than just a track; it was a playground of surprises with ramps, tunnels, and varying levels that intensified the thrill. Each pair savoured two 15-minute sessions on the track, witnessing a remarkable transformation in confidence from their initial cautious laps to their final adrenaline-charged race.
Amidst the action-packed morning, there were ample opportunities for pit stops, where slushies and waffles re-energized the young racers for their next stint on the track. The day finished in smiles all around as the tired yet very content young people headed home, reminiscing about their newfound skills and the bonds strengthened during an unforgettable day at TeamSport Go Karting.
Here's some lovely feedback from some of our fabulous mentors after the trip:
'My mentee was buzzing on the way home'
'It was loads of fun & my mentee was exhausted after and fell asleep on their way home. Great day!'
'Many thanks for a great morning, mentee loved it and it was a really great group activity'
A huge thanks to Ian Williams for making the maps go-karting trip possible; all in all, it was a fantastic day.
