Volunteer Centre Sutton is pleased to launch the Wellbeing Support Project, one of 12 initiatives awarded funding by Sutton Council to help residents get the right support before they reach crisis point.

The project will provide trained volunteers to support older people aged 50 in the Wallington area who are housebound, living with a disability, or experiencing limited mobility.

Through regular monthly home visits, friendly and reliable volunteers will offer practical and emotional support, helping residents to access local services, stay connected to their community, and make informed choices about issues affecting their wellbeing. The service is designed to promote independence, reduce isolation, and ensure people feel supported in their own homes.

The Wellbeing Support Project forms part of Sutton Council’s wider approach to early intervention — helping people take small steps that can make a big difference to their quality of life. By offering support at an early stage, the project aims to prevent problems from escalating into more serious health or social care needs.

The project will be delivered over the next 12 months and will focus on building trusted relationships between volunteers and residents, creating a consistent source of support and reassurance.

Volunteer Centre Sutton looks forward to working with local partners and the community to ensure the Wellbeing Support Project reaches those who need it most and helps older residents in Wallington to live healthier, more connected lives.
