Volunteer Centre Sutton hosted the inaugural Sutton Volunteer Recognition Awards at Sutton Central Library on Thursday 8 October 2026, celebrating 58 volunteers nominated by organisations across the borough for their contribution to local communities.
Opening the event, Anita Maullin, CEO of Volunteer Centre Sutton, highlighted the vital role volunteers play in supporting residents, bringing communities together and helping local organisations deliver essential services. She emphasised the importance of celebrating volunteers not only within their organisations but also across the wider Sutton community.
The new awards initiative is open to any Sutton organisation that works with volunteers, with events held twice a year. The next celebration is planned for spring 2027.
Through the awards, Volunteer Centre Sutton hopes to thank volunteers for their time, skills and dedication, encourage volunteer retention and raise the profile of volunteering across the borough.
