Volunteer Centre Sutton recommissioned to deliver support to Sutton’s charity, community and faith sector

We are pleased to share that we have been successful in being recommissioned by Sutton Council to deliver infrastructure support, in partnership with Community Action Sutton.

CEO Anita Maullin Volunteer Centre SuttonHaving celebrated our 60th anniversary in 2025, there is no better way to start our 61st year than by announcing that Volunteer Centre Sutton has been recommissioned by Sutton Council to deliver infrastructure support to Sutton’s charity, community and faith sector.

Our contract runs for the next three years and the contract specification drew heavily on the findings of the State of the Sector research, independently commissioned by Volunteer Centre Sutton and Community Action Sutton, and published in April 2025.

Anita Maullin, Chief Executive Officer at Volunteer Centre Sutton, said:

“We are delighted to have been awarded this three-year contract and to continue working in partnership with Community Action Sutton to further develop Sutton’s charity, community and faith sector. Having recently moved into our new premises in Wallington, this is particularly welcome news as it gives us the stability and space to embed the learning from the State of the Sector research into our work over the next three years.

This contract will enable us to raise awareness of the support available to charities, community and faith organisations, strengthen connections and collaboration across the sector, and support more Sutton residents to volunteer in ways that are right for them. We will also continue to provide guidance on safer recruitment and vetting, alongside training and skills sharing to help organisations recruit and retain volunteers.

Volunteers add enormous value to our communities, and this long-term commitment allows us to grow and sustain that impact — supporting organisations to thrive and ensuring residents can contribute in meaningful ways that deliver real outcomes for Sutton.”

We recognise that the sector continues to face significant challenges, and we welcome Sutton Council’s ongoing investment in the charity sector and its commitment to maintaining vital infrastructure support.

Whether you are a small volunteer-led group or a a well-established charity, we can advise and support you on all aspects of volunteer recruitment and best practice in volunteer management. Your main contact is our Volunteering Officer, Jo Dawson on jodawson@vcsutton.org.uk.
