Volunteer Centre Sutton wins further funding through the Welcome Programme

Volunteer Centre Sutton is one of over 40 national and regional projects being allocated further government funding from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities to help British National (Overseas) families settle successfully into life in the UK.

Hong Kong British National (Overseas) (BN(O)) status holders building new lives in the UK will continue to receive vital support after the government today (23 July) confirmed the next phase of the Welcome Programme.

Volunteer Centre Sutton’s Integrating Sutton project was first launched in March 2022 and has quickly established a community of Hong Kongers who have recently settled in Sutton.

The project hosts a packed calendar of events including regular coffee mornings as well as talks from local experts on housing, banking and education. We were also delighted to host a very special day celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with our Hong Kongers and Local Residents!

We were also very proud to be included in the Welcoming Committee for Hong Konger’s report (published 4 July) examining all aspects of the settlement & integration of Hong Kongers who have moved to the UK under the new BN(O) visa scheme.
