Volunteers' Week 1-7 June 2019: Time to Celebrate

Volunteers' Week 2019 time to celebrate logo

Volunteers Week is a chance to celebrate and say thank you for the fantastic contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK. It takes place every year 1 – 7 June and is led by the NCVO. As a borough, Sutton is known for having volunteering engrained in our very DNA and we would like to take this opportunity to celebrate Sutton's best resource - our residents, getting stuck in, building the community together, and choosing to give freely of our time to shape the very fabric of Sutton, together!

Supporting organisations to support their volunteers is at the heart of what we do at Volunteer Centre Sutton so this year we’d like to help you to thank your volunteers, and here are just a few ideas:

Join our 'thank you' campaign

If you have a special volunteer that you would like to give recognition to, why not get involved with our campaign. We’re gathering stories that recognise individual volunteers and that thank them for their contribution. We can also highlight your organisation and help you recruit new volunteers. Get in touch...

Host a celebration event

You could host a celebration event to bring people together to celebrate volunteers’ contributions. We’re having our own mini celebration at the Volunteer Centre Sutton so that we can thank all the volunteers that support us here, as well as the volunteers who are involved with all our projects. The NCVO has lots of great ideas and resources for running an event here

Run a volunteer recruitment drive

Volunteers’ Week is a good time to generate interest in volunteering, highlight the benefits and show how your volunteers help you to achieve your mission. We’re running an all day drop-in volunteer recruitment event on Wednesday 5th June so make sure all your latest opportunities are on our database and if there is anything in particular you would like us to promote please get in touch…

Use social media

Social media is a great and free way to publicly celebrate and thank your volunteers. We’ll be very active on social media around Volunteers' Week and we’d love it if you shared your #VolunteersWeek stories with us, or join our campaign and let us do all the hard work for you!

You can find us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

The official Volunteers' Week social media accounts are run by the NCVO and you can find them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

Use #VolunteersWeek to say ‘thank you’ to your volunteers and join thousands of other organisations in a nationwide show of thanks. Encourage your volunteers to tell their stories with #VolunteersWeek.

The NCVO has some really great tips on how to make the most of social media during #VolunteersWeek here

There are a number of really useful downloadable templates and resources on the NCVO website and to access them you just need to register with Volunteers Week here
