Since its launch in July 2023, Volunteer Centre Sutton’s Benefits Form Filling project has helped local residents access £587,867.04 in vital welfare benefits — ensuring individuals and families receive the financial support they’re entitled to.
Delivered in partnership with Citizens Advice Sutton and Together for Sutton, the project pairs trained volunteers with residents needing help to navigate complex benefits paperwork. Sessions take place at Volunteer Centre Sutton’s offices or at Sutton Central Library, offering accessible and personal one-to-one support. Plans are underway to expand the service to more locations across the borough soon.
To date, 50 volunteers have supported 471 clients through 471 individual sessions, contributing a remarkable 942 hours of time — with more sessions already scheduled as demand continues to grow.
