Our Health Navigators delivered a record month of community health support in February 2026, carrying out 270 blood pressure checks across 18 sessions – the highest number completed in a single month.
The sessions took place across a range of community settings in Carshalton, Sutton and Wallington, helping residents check their blood pressure and learn more about their health.
A major part of the work included visits to seven Sutton Housing Partnership retirement housing schemes, where residents were able to receive quick and convenient blood pressure checks close to home.
The team also attended a busy Lunar New Year celebration at Sutton Library, organised for the local Hong Konger community. The event saw strong engagement, with 53 blood pressure checks completed during the celebration.
Health Navigators were also present at the Step Ahead employment and wellbeing programme held at the St Nicholas Centre. Over six days of events, the team carried out 66 blood pressure checks, supporting people attending the programme to take a simple but important step in looking after their health.
The checks also highlighted the importance of regular monitoring. Of the 270 people screened, 28% recorded high blood pressure (over 140/90). One individual was found to have very high blood pressure (over 180/120) and was advised to seek urgent medical attention.
By bringing health checks directly into the community, the Health Navigators programme is helping residents identify potential health risks early and access the support they need.
The team will continue delivering more blood pressure check sessions throughout March at community groups, workplaces and local events across Sutton.
