Health Navigators hit the road this Summer

Health Navigators brought free blood pressure checks to local events this summer, helping Sutton residents understand and manage their health.

The Health Navigators team has had a busy summer, taking free blood pressure checks into communities across Sutton and helping residents know their numbers.

Over the summer, the team attended a wide range of local events, including the St Helier Festival, Family Hub Family Fun Day, Eco Fair and Hill House Summer Festival, as well as resident engagement events organised by Sutton Housing Partnership at Chaucer, Shanklin and Benhill estates.

So far, Health Navigators have carried out around 250 blood pressure checks at these community events, making it easier for residents to access a simple health check while taking part in activities in their local area.

Helping residents know their numbers

The team also supported Know Your Numbers Week from 7–9 September, working in partnership with Duffus Community Foundation at Unity Junction and the St Nicholas Centre.

Across the three-day event, Health Navigators carried out 87 additional blood pressure checks, giving local residents the opportunity to check their blood pressure and learn more about the importance of knowing their numbers.

The summer programme included:

  • 30 July: Sutton Housing Partnership – Chaucer Garden Resident Engagement Day
  • 31 July: International Tea Lounge – St Paul's Church
  • 6 August: Sutton Housing Partnership – Shanklin Estate Resident Engagement Day
  • 8 August: Family Hub Family Fun Day
  • 20 August: Sutton Housing Partnership – Benhill Estate Resident Engagement Day
  • 28 August: Hill House Summer Festival
  • 31 August: Eco Fair: Carshalton Park
  • 7–9 September: Know Your Numbers Week – Unity Junction and St Nicholas Centre, in partnership with Duffus Community Foundation

The Health Navigators will continue taking their service into local communities, with further Sutton Housing Partnership estate events planned for October.

By bringing health checks directly into neighborhoods and community events, the project is helping more Sutton residents take a simple but important step towards understanding their health.
