During Befriending Week (1-7 November), we launched a fundraising appeal for The Thoughtfulness Fund, created to enable us to buy gifts for some of the most isolated and lonely people we support through our Sutton Befrienders project.
We're delighted to say that we raised nearly £500 and we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has generously contributed to the Thoughtfulness Fund. Your donations have made a meaningful difference, enabling us to brighten lives and spread kindness throughout our community.
Thanks to your incredible support, we’ve been able to deliver thoughtful gifts and gestures to those who need them most. Whether it’s a surprise package, a simple token of appreciation, or an act of kindness, your contributions have brought joy and comfort to countless individuals.
Our staff and volunteers are now delivering gifts over the next few weeks. Our first recipient is Tony, pictured here. Tony was going to wait until Christmas Day to open his gift but couldn't wait! Thanks to The Thoughtfulness Fund, Tony received a Christmas food hamper.
"I couldn't resist opening it. It's smashing. You couldn't have brought me anything better!"
A special thank you goes out to our amazing Young Commissioners, who enthusiastically took on the task of wrapping the gifts. Their dedication, creativity and care added an extra touch of warmth and love to every package. Your efforts truly reflect the spirit of community and service that we cherish at Volunteer Centre Sutton.
