Families supported by Volunteer Centre Sutton’s Afghan Support Project came together for a joyful Valentine’s Day gathering at the Volunteer Centre Sutton offices on 14 February. The pre-Ramadan event offered parents and children the chance to meet, share home-cooked dishes, and enjoy a lively afternoon of games.
Children enthusiastically played table tennis, table football, and even an ice hockey-style game, while adults relaxed, socialised, and took in the stunning views from Volunteer Centre Sutton’s offices in Wallington.
“I had a great day, Miss Sarah,” said one child attendee.
Everyone enjoyed the welcoming space, laughter, and sense of community the day brought.
Adults also shared their appreciation:
“Thank you, Sarah, for arranging such a wonderful gathering. It was truly a lovely time meeting so many wonderful people. And a big thank you to everyone who brought the delicious food—everything was amazing!”
The event highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for families to connect and feel at home in Sutton, especially ahead of Ramadan.
