Afghanistan Support

Our Afghanistan Support Project welcomes and supports the integration of new residents from Afghanistan into the London Borough of Sutton.

About The Project

This project provides practical and emotional support to Afghan families and individuals who have recently settled in Sutton, helping them navigate the early stages of life in a new community. It focuses on building confidence, independence and connections, supporting people as they adjust to living in the UK.
We work closely with residents to help them access trusted information, local services and community support, ensuring they feel welcomed and supported as they settle into life in Sutton.

What We Do

The project focuses on providing both structured and flexible support to help Afghan residents successfully settle into life in Sutton. This includes ad hoc, day-to-day assistance for individuals and families as they navigate services, alongside more structured group sessions designed to build confidence, connection and independence.

We deliver a mix of workshops and information sessions in partnership with professionals from public services and other organisations, providing clear, practical guidance to help residents understand their options and make informed decisions.

We also run regular community-based groups, including a weekly ladies’ conversational English group to build language skills and confidence, and a larger women’s group where participants are introduced to local services, organisations and useful information to support everyday life.

The project focuses on key areas that are essential for successful integration, including:
  • Housing
  • Finance
  • Health
  • Education
  • Employability
Alongside these activities, we continue to offer tailored one-to-one support where needed, helping individuals and families access services and build confidence in their new environment.
