Child Exploitation comes in many forms. It involves any act where someone uses a child for work, sexual gratification or some other personal or financial gain. Any child, regardless of age, socio-economic background or location is potentially at risk of child exploitation. Exploiters use coercion, manipulation and/or grooming tactics to target children and force them to engage in exploitative activities.
Throughout the week of 18 to 22 March Sutton Council and voluntary and community sector partners will be working in partnership to raise awareness of child exploitation and signpost young people and parents and carers to advice and support.
Sutton Council have collated a wealth of useful resources here, and there will also be activities and events throughout the week. Volunteer Centre Sutton, our Young Commissioners and our MAPS Mentoring project are also supporting the campaign by disseminating these 2 surveys below, one for young people and one for professionals.
The results of these surveys will help all partners better understand the experiences of children and young people in Sutton and how we, as partners, can help to support you.
