Thank you to everyone who took part in the Youth Board meeting on 5 February 2026. It was brilliant to see so many young people come together to talk about the digital world and share their views.
Just under 50 students from around 10 Sutton schools attended the session, which focused on AI, online safety and social media. Young people led the event — delivering speeches, running workshops, keeping time and guiding discussions. The energy, confidence and ideas in the room showed just how powerful young voices can be.
'Overall, It was a great opportunity that allowed me to express my opinions. As a young person, I have never really seen or been provided with such opportunity. Thank you'
Youth Board Attendee
All of the conclusions and questions raised on the day — including how digital education can be improved for all ages, whether AI will change how the UK education system operates, and how social media and AI can be made safer for young people — were shared with key senior decision makers, including local MPs and council leaders.
Response from Bobby Dean (MP for Carshalton and Wallington)

Youth Boards take place every three months and are open to any young person aged 13 and over. They usually happen at Sutton Central Library, and each one focuses on a different topic. Young people run the whole event, from hosting and speaking to leading workshops.
