Volunteering is different for everyone, and you know best what support you need to volunteer safely and happily. We have over 200 volunteering roles on our Volunteer Hub, with lots of different opportunities to choose from.
A good place to start is by looking for roles you are interested in and checking whether you could do them independently or with some support. Our information sheet explains how to search for roles on the Volunteer Hub - Download "How Can Volunteer Centre Sutton Help You to Volunteer?" (PDF)
If you are under 18, the minimum age for each role will be included in the role description. If no age is listed, the role is not open to under 18s. You can also filter your search on the Volunteer Hub to show opportunities suitable for under 18s: - Download "Under 18s How Can Volunteer Centre Sutton Help You to Volunteer?" (PDF)
Often, organisations advertising roles will include information about disability access or any additional support available. When applying, you can use the message box to explain your situation and tell the organisation about any support or adjustments you may need.
Example message: "Hello, I am interested in this volunteering role. I have a disability and may need some support to carry out the tasks safely and comfortably. Could you please let me know what support or adjustments are available for volunteers, for example around accessibility, training, or any flexibility in how the role is done? I’m also happy to discuss what would work best for me if helpful."
Example information about disability access or any additional support available: "We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and are committed to making volunteering as inclusive and accessible as possible. If you have a disability, health condition, or additional support need, please let us know how we can support you. We are happy to discuss reasonable adjustments, accessibility, flexible volunteering arrangements, or any support that may help you feel comfortable and confident in your role."
