The Community Volunteer Squad is a project that connects local volunteers with residents in need, to perform basic, one-off, 'helpful tasks'. Whether it's transforming outside spaces, decluttering and organising, keeping residents warm in winter with energy saving tactics, undertaking essential repairs, moving and assembling furniture, or one-off deliveries and collections, the Squad is always ready to step up!
We would like to say a huge thank you to Sutton Council for supporting this project from the beginning, and to all our referral partners including Together for Sutton, Age UK Sutton, Sutton Carers Centre and Home-Start Sutton, for connecting us with residents in need.
Winning additional funding from the National Lottery marks an exciting new chapter for the Squad, and we are delighted to be able to continue to provide the vital support it gives. Since the Squad started in June 2023, our incredible volunteers have given 675 hours. That's over 400 hours a month! And we’ve helped and supported over 100 residents.
“I wanted to let you know how wonderful your volunteers were that helped with clearing my partner’s belongings. They found a comfort pillow and I used it to sleep with last night. I had the best night's sleep since my partner died over a year ago. Bless you all” Ann M
“Your volunteers worked so hard and put in so much effort to clear the garden so that my little boy can play in it safely. I am so grateful I can’t express in words enough”ā Resident Pā
“When we have genuine help from people like Steve, people feel safe & happy, he is someone we can trust” Mr and Mrs G
Thank you to National Lottery players everywhere!
