About The Project

The Community Volunteer Squad is a volunteer-led project that connects Sutton residents with practical, short-term support for simple, one-off tasks.
We help local people who may need a bit of extra assistance to carry out everyday jobs that make a meaningful difference to their safety, wellbeing, or independence.

What We Do

The Community Volunteer Squad provides support for small, practical, one-off tasks that residents may find difficult due to age, health, disability, or mobility challenges.
These may include:
  • Simple household repairs
  • Gardening and light outdoor work
  • Changing lightbulbs
  • Moving furniture
  • Driving someone to an appointment
  • Other small, practical tasks
Our aim is to provide short-term, practical help that supports people to remain safe and independent at home.

How We Help

We support Sutton residents who need help with a one-off task that can improve their daily life, particularly those who may be returning home from hospital or experiencing short-term difficulty managing at home.
Referrals come through trusted local organisations and charities who understand the needs of the people they work with.
Every request is handled with care, and all volunteers are fully trained, vetted, and reference checked.
By offering practical support at the right time, we help reduce pressure on individuals and contribute to stronger, more connected communities.
