We are a local project that connects volunteers with Sutton residents who need a bit of extra support. We focus on carrying out simple, one-off “helpful tasks” that can make a meaningful difference to someone’s day. These tasks could include simple repairs, gardening, driving to an appointment, changing a lightbulb, moving furniture, and much more.
Our aim is to strengthen our community by offering practical help to people who may find certain tasks difficult due to age, health, or mobility issues—for example, someone who has just come out of hospital and needs short-term support to resolve a problem at home.
Every request is handled with care, and all our volunteers are fully trained, vetted and reference checked.
We support residents across Sutton who need assistance with a small, one-off job that can improve their safety, wellbeing, or independence. Referrals come through trusted local organisations and charities who understand the needs of the people they work with.
Are you an organisation that needs to make a referral?
Local organisations — including community groups and charities — can refer individuals who would benefit from the Community Volunteer Squad.
If you support residents who may need help with a one-off task and would like to make a referral or become a referral partner, please contact us at hello@vcsutton.org.uk
We welcome new partners and are happy to discuss how the project works.
Interested in volunteering with the Community Volunteer Squad?
The Community Volunteer Squad is powered by volunteers, and we are always looking for people who want to give a little time to help others. Volunteers choose the tasks they are able to help with, making it flexible and easy to fit around other commitments.
If you’re interested in joining the squad or would like more information, please contact us at hello@vcsutton.org.uk
