Our biggest Sutton Youth Board so far, a young person led the way with welcome and faciliating introductions and ice breakers in pairs to get to know someone better through their favourite cultural custom or festival.
We heard an update from the council on the Cost of Living Crisis survey done at the 2023 Sutton Youth Summit and the Voice and Influence of Young People work. It was great to hear from key partner organisations such as Advocacy For All and Be Inspired, along with Cllr Jake Short. There was particular interest in the young people’s LGBTQ+ support group The Circle, and the women’s only boxing. The Young Commissioners led a fun quiz to get us moving and bring the Celebrating Sutton’s Diversity booklet to life, and another fun activity to get people to move groups and mix up for our final workshop on helping shape plans for 2025. It was particularly noticeable that many of the roles including time keeping and facilitation were led by young people themselves.
Thank you to all who came, and we look forward to taking your suggestions and making 2025 even more thought provoking, helpful and fun to improve our borough for young people.
The report will be published here shortly. Read more about our youth participation work here.
