The Jack Petchey Achievement  Award recognizes outstanding young people aged 11-25 across London and Essex for their achievements and positive contributions.

A big congratulations to Erin for winning the 3rd Jack Petchey Award from the nominations made by the Young Commissioners and staff! . Erin's hard work and dedication have truly earned this honour since being a dedicated member of the Young Commissioners since the summer of 2022. She has always attended meetings and events, consistently contributed ideas and asked insightful questions. Erin's kindness and helpfulness have made her a valued team member. Since joining the group, Erin has grown in confidence and has improved her communication and presentation skills.

One of her peers noted, "Erin is an asset to the group and I look forward to seeing her skills and confidence develop even further."

Volunteer Centre Sutton joined the scheme last year when Joseph was our first winner, click to read more here. Our second winner was Jasmin, click to read more here.

Jasmin and Erin decided to combine their awards together and use the money to fund an end-of-exam season team-building activity. After a year of hard work both as Young Commissioners and in school, we wanted a way to relax and de-stress. We chose Wallington's 'Escape from the Room' as our perfect activity.

Before diving into the escape rooms, we spent an hour in the garden games room getting to know each other better and welcoming any newcomers to our group. We had an epic UNO showdown and then to energize ourselves for the escape room challenge, we enjoyed some healthy snacks, including fruit and a few nourishing Haribos, of course!

One member shared their excitement, saying, "I really liked the way we had to work as a team to find clues, especially with people you barely talk to, which makes me get to know other Young Commissioners a lot more."

We split into three groups: two escape rooms and one puzzle room. Each group had an hour to complete their challenge, which was perfect for team bonding and working on our communication skills. We had so much fun, and for most of us, it was our first time doing an escape room. We absolutely loved it and can't wait for our next adventure together!
